"Paper Weaving," A Kit for Kids
Based on Paper Weaving for Little Folks (Sam’l Gabriel Sons & Company, New York, c. 1920), from the Diana Korzenik Collection of Art Education Ephemera at The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens, you can make thousands of designs with this paper weaving kit. Copy the designs you find in the information booklet, or make up your own, to your heart’s delight!
Try making patterns of squares, triangles, jiggedy-jaggedy lines, diamonds, or a mishmash of great colors. Experiment with weaving different colors next to each other. Do some seem brighter when they’re next to each other? Does one color look like the background in some designs, and like the foreground in others? Which colors contrast well, and which colors blend together well? With this paper weaving kit you’ll be on your way to creating mind-boggling patterns that will wow your family and friends!
